We all emit carbon dioxide, no matter what you are doing. It is almost impossible to emit  zero carbon emissions but it is possible to reduce your carbon footprint! Do you know what your carbon footprint is and what the impact it has on our planet? In this blog we will talk about different ways you can reduce your carbon footprint.

What is carbon footprint?

A carbon footprint is the total amount of greenhouse gas emissions that come from the production, use and end-of-life of a product or service. It includes carbon dioxide , the gas most commonly emitted by humans and others. Many people forget that everything you do or buy is linked to carbon emissions. For example, the bananas you buy from the groceries. You might forget that it is imported and it took a lot of logistics and transport to make sure this banana will end up in your supermarket. After you buy the banana, you will take the car and drive back home. Again, carbon emission.

It is easy to forget the process behind how products are transported and what impact it has on the world when you just see it in the store. It is impossible to reduce your carbon footprint to zero, but there are many ways to reduce it.

How can you reduce your carbon footprint?

At the end of the day, the big companies are the ones who should be reducing their carbon emissions as they have the biggest impact on changing the world. However, that does not mean it is an excuse for us to be doing nothing and not try to make a small change.

Though the chart shows many different ways to reduce your carbon footprint, there are still a lot of other easy ways. The options are the following:

  • Buy organic local and seasonal vegetables and fruits
  • buy responsibly made clothing or second hand
  • Take shorter showers and reduce water usage if possible
  • Change your lamps to LED to save energy (they also last a lot longer!)
  • Unplug electronics if you don’t use them
